Family Camp 2009

Over 200 people from across all sections of the group gathered at Youlbury Scout Campsite on the weekend of 5th - 7th June. The theme for this year's camp was space. The campers were divided into five contingents all of which were named after rockets, planets, astronauts, astronomers and constellations.

The contingents competed against each other by taking part in various problem solving tasks and also completing a spaceorama during the whole of the weekend. Intermingled among all this were all the other more traditional scouting related activities including 'Jacobs ladder', orienteering, climbing, abseiling and 3g swing all of which were laid on for us by the team at Youlbury.

The group held its Annual review on the Saturday evening, where we saw presentations of the group's activities over the past year. Simon and Dave then presented various awards which culminated in the inaugural presentation of the Peter Hobbs award which is presented to a child of one of our sections whom the leaders have nominated for their demonstration throughout the year of Peter's scouting ideals. This year's nominations were Bethany, Euan , Matthew, Tom M, Tom A, Micaela and the Peter Hobbs award was presented by Margaret Hobbs to Isobel. Well done to all of you.

Saturday evening concluded when we were joined by our camping neighbours from 79th Reading Commanche Cub Pack at a campfire where lots of well known traditional songs and some not so well known were sung to a surprisingly high standard!!

Here are some photos of the weekend.

If you have any that you think may be of interest to us, please email them to the webmaster (no more than five per email please) or pop them on a CD or memory stick and hand them to your section leader .
