Farnborough Camp

In the May half term, we had our first Group Camp. We travelled to Runways End campsite by coach (although the cubs had to 'fly' as their theme was based on Aircraft!). Click here to see the views of the scouts. Here are some comments from the cubs:-

My favourite thing was playing the game that involves water. Our sixers organised it. I didn’t get very wet but some people looked like they had just come out of a shower!! My worst thing was the hike from the camp to the museum. The museum was fun though! Helen

My favourite activity was the one when you had to get the bits for the letter and you spell ‘undercarriage’ because I was both ‘A’s! The worst activity was the hike because it hurt my feet loads. Alex

I found it hard going across the rope because it kept on wobbling. The best thing is answering questions on the hike. James

I liked going to Farnborough Museum and seeing the Harrier. I disliked going to bed! Christian

What I found fun: I found making vehicles for our teddies fun because I like doing arts and crafts. What I found hard: I found travelling along the rope bridge really hard because I fell off and I had to go really quick. Tabitha

The best bit about the camp was the sixers’ game. The hardest bit about the camp was getting to sleep. Matthew

What I found hard was pedalling up the big hill in the go-carts. What I found really fun was visiting the air museum. Liam

At the museum we all enjoyed the simulator that we played. We liked looking at models of aeroplanes.

My favourite part was seeing the real Lightning plane. Michael

Go-carting was great!

At the campfire it was hard to stay awake.

I really enjoyed the campfire!

I found packing hard! Sophie

My favourite part was playing on the flight simulator and crashing the plane. Ben

Dear Reader, I had a great time at Farnborough camp. My best thing was go-carting, it was great when I nearly fell off the rope bridge! We even lit our own fire and cooked sausages! It was sooo fun!!! Gemma

My hardest part was packing! My favourite bit was the bridge climbing! Charlotte

The thing I found the hardest was trying to get to sleep but other than that it was great fun. I loved it the best. It was the best camp. The thing that I found the best was the sixers’ water game. It was the one where you had cups and you had to fill the cup up to the top and the sixer will tell you what to do back to your group! Thank you leaders! Georgina

My favourite was cooking over a fire, my worst was packing.

The best activity I did was probably building and going across our bridge! What we did on the bridge was to try and get our team to get across the bridge and get a piece of paper and go back to the side we came from in the shortest time (we came….(drums)…….5 or 6 out of 9!). The hardest or worst thing was making aircraft for our teddies. Alex

My best game that I played was the bridge. The bridge is a rope supported by 2 tripods. It is very hard to cross because you keep falling off! I enjoyed this camp because of the games, food and campfire. My Game: my game is to do with my Outdoor Plus Challenge. Some people invent a game and plan it. We chose a wet game. There was a bucket in the middle and you have to get the water from one bucket to another but you cannot use your hands or cheat in any way or you will get a punishment of the water bucket for 30 seconds. The winner of the game is the one with the most water in their bucket at the end. Austin

My favourite thing that I did was the adventure playground because it was like an obstacle course. Christopher

My favourite game that I played was the water game. It’s my favourite because you and your friends get wet but I didn’t because I was wearing my waterproofs so I did not get wet but on the other team my friend Charlotte got soaked and at the end of the game Charlotte asked if she can have a bucket of cold water chucked on top of her but no one listened to her. I also loved playing on the swing bridge because nearly everyone got across except for the grown ups at the end. Every grown up went on but it was very hard! I made a lot of friends like Alex, Charlotte, Ella, Chloe, Tabitha, Hannah and lots, lots more. Being at camp is a wonderful opportunity to be here so see you next time. Oh and I loved the food. Kaitlyn

My favourite bit was finding the bits of aircraft. My worst bit was washing up after eating breakfast, lunch and tea. Callum
