Fund-raising

From this page you will be able to find out about all the different ways in which we raise our funds, how you can help and what we are raising the funds for. Alternatively if you would like to make an instant donation you can do that by simply clicking here.

We predominantly raise funds for the purchase of camping equipment to enable us to provide the most fundamental part of scouting. We have numerous tents and marquees, but they are used regularly throughout the year and take quite a bashing and therefore require constant attention. Naturally Subs is the most obvious way of raising funds and the cost of Subs reflect the actual cost of being a member. These costs include heating, National headquarters capitation fees, equipment and other building hire such as Padworth and Sulhamstead Hall. We try to keep the Subs to a minimum but there is always the need to raise additional money through fund-raising.

Fund-raising events are held throughout the year and we try to make them as much fun as possible. Last years October Ball was just one event and it was a huge success for group funds. We are also collecting old mobile phones. Just take them along to a meeting and leave them with a leader. Other events included marshalling at the Mortimer Scramble, bag packing at Sainsburys and providing the food at the Mortimer fireworks display.

You can also help the group without spending any money. We periodically have a ‘Dad’s Army’ where parents and leaders get together to maintain the HQ and it’s equipment. Last year we even managed to fit a new kitchen as well as completely reorganise the stores.

We are always looking for new ways to raise our funds and try hard not to target the same people each time. If you have any ideas for new ways to raise funds or would just like to help out, please contact any of the leaders or use the contact pages.
