Welcome from the GSL

Welcome to the 1st Burghfield and Sulhamstead Scout Group. If you are a visitor to our group, I hope you enjoy browsing through our website and learning more about what we get up to! If you are a parent or member of our group, you will also find lots of useful information and reports within our parents' section.

As a group we are hugely proud of our heritage and our achievements particularly in recent years. The growth in our numbers from less than 50 a few years ago to nearly 250 today shows that we are doing something right. We are the largest scout group in Berkshire and one of the largest in the Country.

We are a family friendly group and when young people join us, so do their families. We aim to include parents in as much as possible whether its helping out at weekly meetings, coming along to our annual family camp or just helping out with a bit of DIY at our Headquarters. Many of our adult leaders are also parents!

We aim to make life an adventure for all of our members. If you think you would like to join that adventure, why not get in touch via the contacts tab in the top right hand corner of this page.

Group Scout Leader

We are part of the Pang Valley Scout District in the County of Berkshire and serve the rural villages of Burghfield, Burghfield Common, Mortimer, Padworth, Sulhamstead and Ufton Nervet, which are all south of Reading. We currently have 3 Beaver Colonies, 3 Cub Packs and 2 Scout Troops. We also have an Explorer Unit attached to us.

Membership is £30 per term paid at the start of term. There is a one off joining fee of £10 which covers scarf, woggle, and logbook.
